THEATER DAYS - The E3 Ensemble works exaggeratedly and full of irony in A Ballet Opera on the narcissism of the art world, politics, and its own self-glorification. Driven by eccentric singing, dance, and Dada-inspired language, there is a desperate attempt to keep the perfectly shiny facade from crumbling. What initially seems like a quirky, funny performance develops into a mad horror. With poetic depth and quirky lightness, this doomed ballet opera celebrates the bizarre, the absurd, and the bitterly evil.
"We tell you, we can do it. We tell you something without saying much. There's already too much talking anyway. So we just show you what, and you can watch. Watch us, see how we deceive you, sick with self-love and eaten up with envy. We are all so special and unique and really completely unimportant. And: we need an audience. You, but also the others. Especially the others who have the money. So we show you A Ballet Opera. Then the subscription people of high culture will also come to watch. We give everything of ourselves, for you. Until we can't anymore. Until nothing works anymore. Please come. Please." The HEIDELBERG THEATER DAYS 2026 are organized by the Free Theater Association Heidelberg e. V. in cooperation with the Karlstorbahnhof e. V., and the festival is supported by the City of Heidelberg through the Cultural Office and by the Ministry of Science, Research, and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg through the State Association of Amateur Theater Baden-Württemberg e. V.
