Almost a crime story. A pope has disappeared. It is said to have been a woman. Unheard of! Marguerite Spycher has investigated the clues and written a book about it. We enjoy samples of her search through the centuries: Why is Pope John missing from official lists? Why are pages missing in old manuscripts? Who has falsified biographies – and why? Eyewitnesses confirm that there was a Pope John at that time. However, he is not listed anywhere in an official list. Some authors write about a Johannes Anglicus who became pope, although he was a woman. Others dismiss this as a vile invention to mock and harm the church.
