EFG Swiss Open Gstaad

Description

In 1915, the first international tennis tournament took place in Gstaad. Since then, many great names of this traditional sport have found their way to the Bernese Oberland: Stefan Edberg, Ilie Nastase, Tony Roche, Rod Laver, Boris Becker, Yannick Noah, Jim Courier, or Roger Federer, who won the tournament in 2004. The record holder for the most titles in Gstaad is Australian Roy Emerson with five trophies. The first edition of the tournament was held on tennis courts near the Gstaad Palace. Subsequently, the tournament moved to its current location in the center of the village. In 2015, Switzerland's oldest tournament celebrated its 100th anniversary.
