d'Wärchi – Suminagashi (Japanese Marbling)

Description

Discover the fascinating art of Japanese marbling and be surprised by the patterns that emerge. Using special Japanese ink, swirling shapes and fine lines form on a water bath, constantly changing. With just a few simple steps, you can transfer these unique patterns onto paper – turning each sheet into a very personal piece of art. You are encouraged to experiment with different colors and movements, observing how the ink behaves on the water. There is no right or wrong: each pattern develops in its own way and can only be partially planned. Working calmly with water, color, and movement is almost meditative. For a moment, it’s all about observing, trying out, and letting things happen. A creative course for everyone eager to learn a special technique, engage in the process, and create unique paper artworks.

General Information

The d'Wärchi course in Stans offers an introduction to the Suminagashi technique, where ink flows on water to create patterns. Participants can work creatively and produce their own unique pieces while experiencing the meditative effect of the process.
