Description
In her exhibition “Dunkelfeld,” Kornelia Reichart opens up a visual space in which the familiar veers into the uncanny and the hidden takes shape. Painting and language converge like two voices in an inner dialogue. Bodies, animals, cages, mythological allusions, and magic words emerge, shifting in meaning and eluding unambiguous interpretations. “For beauty is nothing but the beginning of the terrible,” writes Rainer Maria Rilke. In “Dunkelfeld,” too, beauty and unease lie close together. The fairy-tale-like meets the grotesque, vulnerability meets a zest for life, memory meets transformation. The “Dunkelfeld” is thus not a place of complete darkness, but a space where the contours become visible of that which is difficult to name with words alone.
