Description

In the 80s and 90s, Platzspitz was known as Zurich's drug hell. How did the open drug scene come about in the middle of the city, what was the daily life of a heroin-dependent person like back then, and why did the social crisis last for years? A dialogical tour with the former "Platzspitz helper" Cornelia Wietlisbach and Vera Humbel, co-head of education & mediation at the Swiss National Museum Zurich and creator of the Platzspitz app "Drug Course," provides insight into the developments of that time: the emergence, escalation, and dissolution of the open drug scene up to the transfer to a drug policy that still exists today. The vivid memories of Cornelia Wietlisbach, who worked as a nurse at Platzspitz and then for over 30 years at a contact and counseling center for addicted people, are complemented by short video clips in which numerous other contemporary witnesses speak and make the visit to the original site a multi-perspective experience.
