When she enters a London hotel suite to 'serve' an old gentleman, the hardened domina Poopay does not yet suspect what eerie and wonderful surprises this night holds. Because the elderly, very wealthy Reece has summoned her not for sex but for confession – and that puts Poopay in deadly danger. The escape through the double doors of the hotel room does not end in the neighboring suite, but ... in the past. And now it is up to Poopay to prevent three deaths, one of which is her own, pursued through time by a psychopathic murderer and a confused hotel detective. Will she be able to save Reece's ex-wives Ruella and Jessica and return safely to the future with their help?
The British author and theater maker Sir Alan Ayckbourn, who has been delighting audiences worldwide since the late 1950s with witty comedies ('Happy Times' and 'Beautiful Presents' also played at the Pforzheim Theater), is currently experiencing a small renaissance. His 1994 play 'Double Doors' is a cleverly constructed piece of entertainment that playfully references well-known thriller and science fiction classics and – quite incidentally – presents a small theatrical-philosophical thought experiment on the theme of time.
