Description

A collaboration between Theater Fiesemadände and TheaterKorona for youth and adults from 14 years old (90 min. - with a break). Towards the end of the 18th century, two young Germans set out to measure the world. One, Alexander von Humboldt, fights through jungles and steppes, navigates the Orinoco, tests poisons on himself, counts the head lice of the natives, crawls into earth holes, and climbs volcanoes. The other, mathematician and astronomer Carl Friedrich Gauss, who prefers to stay at home and cannot spend his life without women – he also proves in his hometown Göttingen that space is curved. Old, famous, and a bit peculiar, the two meet in Berlin in 1828. Loosely based on the novel by Daniel Kehlmann, our play tells the lives of these two scientists.
