"The photographs were taken during a trip to Madagascar. They capture the landscape, nature, people, streets, and everyday life in various places on the island. The exhibition is a selection of photographs taken mainly while traveling and meeting local people. They are records of places and situations that caught my attention during the journey. I would like to return to Madagascar someday."
Dominika Hořáková focuses primarily on documentary and reportage photography. In her work, she has long been interested in the environment and the lives of the people she captures. She is the author of the projects The Other Side of the City (Galerie Kryt, 2023), dedicated to people living on the margins of society, and Settlements (Galerie Kryt, 2025), which was created during repeated visits to Romani settlements in Slovakia. Her work is based on direct observation and personal contact with the photographed environment. She works with both digital and analog photography and also experiments with historical photographic methods. Dominika Hořáková is a member of the Association of Professional Photographers and is currently studying at the Institute of Creative Photography at the Faculty of Philosophy and Science of Silesian University in Opava.
