A servant. Two masters. And a hunger that cannot be negotiated. Truffaldina is looking for work – urgently. And if it's work, then make it double. So she serves two masters at the same time. Without the two knowing about each other. A brilliant idea... as long as no one asks questions. But in Venice, someone is always asking questions. Doors open at the wrong time, letters land in the wrong hands, and suddenly a whirlwind of misunderstandings, pride, love, and a lot of improvisation ensues. In the middle of it all is a character who wants to hold everything together – with wit, pace, and astonishing agility. Sometimes ahead, sometimes behind, sometimes right in between. Who serves whom here is no longer so clear. Theater Matte brings Carlo Goldoni's famous comedy to the stage in a new Bernese German version: physical, precise, and full of playfulness. Masks, rhythm, and wordplay combine with Bernese German to create a fast-paced play about love, hunger, pride, and survivalist wit.
