Description
We invite you to reflect on the 'Future of Freedom' in our series featuring authors from Central and Eastern Europe. With Radka Denemarková (her new novel "Chocolate Blood" recently published, translated from Czech by Eva Profousová, Hoffmann & Campe) and Tomasz Różycki ("Test by Fire. The Deceptive Cartography of Europe," translated from Polish by Bernhard Hartmann, Arco Verlag), two politically minded intellectuals are guests, whose biographies include growing up in socialism, the democratic awakening, as well as disillusionment experiences of the present in the face of authoritarianism and nationalism. In their literature and essays, they refer to freedom thinkers like Václav Havel and Czesław Miłosz. The conversation is led by Basil Kerski, the long-time director of the European Solidarity Center in Gdańsk and president of the House of History North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation. With kind support from the Federal Foreign Office.
