History and Interpretation of a World Heritage Site Yesterday and Today
Prof. Dr. Gunter Schöbel, founded by citizens and an association in 1922, the pile dwellings are known as a museum far beyond Lake Constance. They are visited annually by 250,000 to 300,000 people. With the opening of a new museum in 2024, they once again enter a new era of interpretation. In addition to 150 years of research history, the life of the pile dwellers in the Stone and Bronze Age 6000 and 3000 years ago by the lake and in the region is illuminated there. Prof. Dr. Gunter Schöbel, director of the Pile Dwellings Museum and professor of Prehistoric Archaeology at the University of Tübingen, will give a lecture at the Lake Constance Library in Friedrichshafen on November 10.

The lecture highlights the history and interpretation of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the pile dwellings of Unteruhldingen. Prof. Dr. Gunter Schöbel, director of the museum and professor of prehistoric archaeology, explains the developments from the Empire era to today. The event takes place on November 10 at the Lake Constance Library in Friedrichshafen.
