What happens when people come together at a table who have never met before? Often, those conversations are the ones that remain memorable. "The Short Night of the Long Table" creates the framework for such encounters and combines culinary delights with cultural and artisanal stories. Each edition is shaped by different guests, creating a unique atmosphere. Culture, cuisine, and knowledge sharing intertwine. Short contributions, personal stories, and exciting insights invite reflection and discussion. Traditional, reinterpreted After an aperitif in the Bibliothek Andreas Züst, the focus of the evening is on the hammered dulcimer. Elias Menzi is one of the musicians who open new sound spaces for the traditional instrument. With virtuosic playing, musical openness, and a lot of passion, he combines folk music with contemporary influences and shows how versatile and surprising the hammered dulcimer can sound today. Afterwards, host and chef Laura Röösli serves a four-course menu that highlights seasonal and regional ingredients. The communal meal provides space for conversations, new acquaintances, and enjoyable moments. Experience bread with all senses In between, it becomes aromatic and artisanal at the same time. Master baker and bread sommelier Werner Kast takes guests into the fascinating world of bread. He talks about traditional baking art, different types of grains, fermentation, and the subtle nuances that distinguish good bread. With a lot of expertise and enthusiasm, he shows why bread is much more than an everyday side dish. The Alpenhof shuttle will bring guests back to Trogen, Heiden, or Rehentobel Kaien after the event. Free parking available. The price for the entire evening is CHF 98.– per person/all inclusive.
