Description

In 1964, the 35-year-old Edmund Camenisch fell to his death in the Glarus Alps. 60 years later, his son Reto Camenisch is making a documentary – not about his father, but about his mother and three other women whose husbands lost their lives mountain climbing. The Germanic word for "hero" is "Halipa" and means "free man." Camenisch is interested in who bears the costs of this freedom – and what such a death on the mountain leaves behind. The filmmaker and one of his film protagonists, mountain guide Carla Jaggi, discuss their experiences as survivors – about grief, trauma, and coping strategies. Additionally, there is an exclusive first look at the film (cinema release spring 2027). General Information

The event takes place at the ALPS Alpine Museum of Switzerland in Bern and addresses the experiences of women whose partners died while mountain climbing. As part of the "Week of Living with Death," the film will be presented, followed by a panel discussion and an aperitif.
