PETRA lives squeezed between all the societal constraints that burden a woman of the world, a businesswoman of her rank. Does she really try to break out with Karin? Or is it just another "comédie pour la galerie"? All for show, for fame and publicity? Few female roles play real roles in her own drama: PETRA screams and cries and pleads and thinks and suffers and hopes, and loses everything or more. White, beige, bald, as it should be: the wallpapers, the carpets, the vases have swallowed PETRA. Rainer Werner Fassbinder created a character like an allegory for his time. mAthieu wipes bitter tears from the walls and floors to give the actors a pure stage so they can dance a melancholic technotango.
