Description
Schwejk is declared as stupid by a medical certificate and is assigned to Lieutenant Colonel Lukas as a servant during the war. His sense of duty and obedience to orders surpass all expectations. Schwejk fulfills his tasks excessively, thereby ridiculing their purpose. The "little man" defends his personal freedom amidst the chaos of war by confidently rising above the events with his humor. He frees himself through his wit and imagination, as he always recalls an anecdote that exposes the absurdity of patriotism and militarism. Walter Plathe, the former country doctor from ZDF, regularly takes to the theater stage. The legendary character of the mischievous military clown from Jaroslav Hasek's novel "The Adventures of the Good Soldier Schwejk" has not let the actor go for many years. After the Schwejk adaptation, he wrote a completely new piece tailored to him. "For several years, entire armies of more or less funny 'comedians' have been populating German stages. Plathe ensures that you can still experience what a real comedian is," (Tagesspiegel).
