Algernon is a laboratory mouse whose intelligence has been multiplied thanks to the treatment developed by Professor Nemur and Dr. Strauss. Buoyed by this success, the two scientists decide to apply their discovery to Charlie Gordon, a simple-minded man who has always dreamed of becoming smarter. The experiment profoundly transforms Charlie. He gradually discovers a world that was previously inaccessible to him and gains a new perspective on himself, others, and his past. But when intelligence becomes a gift with unexpected consequences, Charlie faces essential questions about love, difference, dignity, and what makes us human.
