Description

Vampires are not really real, or maybe they are...? Nothing scares Mila more than these legendary bloodsuckers. This makes her an outsider in class – only Karla stands by her, and the two become friends. As the daughter of a vampire family, Karla must continue the tradition and transfer to the vampire academy, especially now that she has her first fang. In her comic debut "Der Zahn" (Kibitz, 2025), Hamburg illustrator Ayşe Klinge tells the story of a friendship that encourages courage, overcoming the fear of the unknown, and being open to people who are different from oneself. She was awarded the Kranichsteiner Children's Literature Scholarship and the Max and Moritz Prize 2026 for the book and is nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize. This afternoon, Ayşe Klinge will be a guest at the LCB, reading and drawing; it will be colorful and wild. The event is part of the KinderKulturMonat, an initiative of the Berliner WerkStadt Kulturverein, in cooperation with the Dachverband Jugendliteratur e.
