Description
The car belongs to the leisure society of the 20th century like the Tremola to the Gotthard Pass. Sunday excursions into the countryside, picnics at the pass summit, or a holiday trip to the south – the mass production of small cars satisfied a new hunger for mobility and created individual freedoms. "The Sunday Excursion" tells with amateur film images about the unclouded happiness of car rides and pass excursions from the 1920s to the 1980s, when even traffic jams were still an experience. The film material mainly comes from private ownership in the canton of Ticino. The films tell in moving, sometimes bumpy images, without words, but expressive. Sit back in the car seat and dive into the film collage. An exhibition in collaboration with the Museo Nazionale del San Gottardo.
