When Alpine tourism became fashionable, the Rigi gained incredible popularity thanks to its good accessibility and magnificent views. 150 years ago, dozens of hotel establishments with over 2000 guest beds and three railway transport facilities already existed on the 'Queen of the Mountains'. A playground for the 'Rich and Beautiful'. During the dialogue, you will learn how nobles, industrialists, artists, and intellectuals from all over Europe enjoyed the unique sunrises and how the Rigi became a stage for a new travel culture, where nature experience, comfort, and social staging were closely intertwined.
