Description

The Schwyz traffic office is an administrative building where a maximum number of people come and go, but who are not primarily interested in visual art. It is both a challenge and an opportunity to present the works in a place where art is not necessarily expected. At the intersection of office beautification and efficient administration, art exists in a niche between exam anxiety and heavy traffic. For artistic and cultural concerns, the very well-frequented public entrance areas and the counter hall are interesting showcases. The mixing of all social classes with access to road and ship traffic could not be more democratic, because everyone, but really EVERYONE, comes and goes through the traffic office. For the special room situations in the "examination room" and the "staff lounge," the two artists created exclusive ensembles that enable dialogue with the employees.
The minimal art mediation activities allow discussion about places and conditions of exhibitions and give the audience the opportunity to reflect on the value of art compared to established things (car, motorcycle, truck, ship, motorhome).
To enable access to art for the audience from all social strata, the selling prices of the pictures are deliberately set moderately.
