The Salmon of Wisdom

Description

Brian Cleeve wrote the delightful and touching short story in which a narrator looks back on his youth and first love. The story is intertwined with lots of Irish music. From the vast repertoire of Irish ballads, as well as from more playful purely instrumental jigs and reels, about twenty songs have been distilled. The band’s lineup corresponds to the original Irish bands known from pubs: the magnificent Joe McHugh, an Irishman, plays Uilleann Pipes (Irish bagpipes), Tin Whistle (Irish flute), and Mandolin. David Aebli switches between Mandolin, Irish Bouzouki, double bass, and guitar. Felix Haller plays accordion and guitar, Juno Haller fiddle and autoharp. Tom Keller, in addition to Bodhrán (Irish drum), also plays guitar and double bass. The story "Cait and I" begins and ends, and gently plays with the themes of the great Irish fairy tale "The Salmon of Wisdom." An evening with lots of Irish music - from delicate folk to the punk of the Pogues.
