Description
DENIS SCHECK and WOLFGANG ABENDSCHÖN & AKZENTE Concert Reading with a Skilled Touch of Rock & Gospel Denis Scheck and Wolfgang Abendschön & AKZENTE are performing on Tuesday, December 1, 2026 at 8 PM in the special atmosphere of the Kleine Kirche at Marktplatz Karlsruhe, the oldest church in the city.
Their program "Zwischentöne", a different perspective on books and musical albums, invites us to listen when it suddenly becomes about reading, hearing, seeing, smelling. Denis Scheck, a literary critic, culture journalist on television and radio, was eight years old when his parents moved with him to a remote village near Stuttgart. He says he started reading out of pure boredom. At thirteen, he founded a literary agency specializing in science fiction. He is still a proud Donaldist. At 15, he was an exchange student in the USA, and at 16, he was an honorary fellow at the Writer's House in Stuttgart. He studied German studies, political science, and contemporary history in Tübingen, Düsseldorf, and Dallas. From 1996 to 2016, he was a literature editor at Deutschlandfunk in Cologne, where he still lives today. He is also well known to a broad audience as the host of the book magazine "Druckfrisch", which has been broadcast monthly on ARD since 2003. His literature show is cult! Denis Scheck has received numerous awards for his work as a literary critic, translator, and television presenter. Wolfgang Abendschön is one of the most renowned and interesting German Christian rock poets, a creative boundary-crosser, and a fascinating seeker. He regularly tours with his band "ABENDSCHÖN & AKZENTE", for which he writes the lyrics and music. Collaborations include the German Catholic Day, the German Protestant Church Day, and the Ecumenical Church Day. Numerous CD and book releases, music videos. This year, he performed celebrated concerts and his current album "Trau ihrer Liebe" at the German Catholic Day 2026 in Würzburg. In his hometown Karlsruhe, Wolfgang Abendschön has the highly successful project "ANDERE KirchenTÖNE" at the Stadtkirche am Marktplatz Karlsruhe and the Kleine Kirche, extending far beyond church and city walls. An extraordinary concert reading with a skilled touch of rock & gospel in the special atmosphere of the beautiful Kleine Kirche Karlsruhe. Host is the Karlsruhe city dean Dr. Thomas Schalla. www.abendschoen-akzente.de Copyright Photo: Denis Scheck, Andreas Hornhoff
