Exploring the Sky

Description

Rudolf Wolf, the first director of the ETH Observatory and a pioneer in sunspot research, collected everything related to astronomy: including sundials, astrolabes, and graphometers. Today, around 300 of his objects belong to the collection of scientific instruments and teaching aids at the ETH Library. In the foyer of the observatory, a new exhibition offers insights into Rudolf Wolf's collection at its original location. Get to know the measuring instruments, sundials, and the telescope used by Wolf to count sunspots, and learn how to use them. The exhibition is available in German and English as well as in simple language.
