Description
Caregiving relatives experience challenging situations, recurring burdens, and often isolation in everyday life with people with dementia. Experience shows that meeting "like-minded people" can lead to:
- not feeling alone
- realizing that others are in a similar situation
- learning that others have found helpful approaches in different ways
- leaving such a meeting feeling strengthened
The support groups are thematically open. Sometimes they focus on a specific aspect of dementia. Ample time is always allocated for mutual exchange and questions. The group aims to provide suggestions, support, and motivation in dealing with people affected by dementia. Having interesting conversations with other caregiving relatives and experiencing an atmosphere where everyone can laugh together again is considered just as important as imparting knowledge. The group is moderated and professionally supervised.
The support group is an open offer. There is no obligation for participants; there are no prerequisites for participation. Therefore, confidentiality of the personal content discussed is agreed upon at each meeting by all participants.
