Description
Some things are crazy enough to be true. In 1987, Turgut Özakman wrote "Deliler Bayramı". Almost four decades later,
these characters are back on stage. Not because times
haven't changed – but because some things are still
remarkably similar. Özakman's view of society is sharp, absurd, and at the same time full of
humanity. His characters laugh, dream, argue, fail, and
ask questions that still reach us today. Perhaps even more,
than we would like. We haven't brought this piece into the present.
We have let the present come to it. "Deliler Bayramı" is Özakman's piece, but it is also Aacayip Tiyatro's
own world. With our own rhythm, our own language, and
a touch of magic, we bring these characters back to life. Sometimes
funny, sometimes bitter, sometimes completely absurd – and sometimes so close to reality that you have to laugh about it. Because perhaps the greatest madness is not in being different. Perhaps it lies in doing the same thing over and over again,
believing that something will change eventually. And so they stand there, our "Deliler":
between reason and madness, between dream and reality, between
the past and today. And they remind us of something we have long forgotten: "Kimi turşu kurar, kimi fabrika.
Ama biz deliyiz, hayal kurarız." "Some pickle cucumbers, others build factories.
But we are crazy – we dream."
