Description
Summer 1976 in a small Texas town: On the last day before vacation, the students celebrate the end of school and thus the end of a life phase – as well as the beginning of a new one. While older students welcome the newcomers with initiation tests and traditionally mean bullying, the hormonal balance prepares for the big party in the evening. Amidst alcohol, joints, flirts, and feelings of freedom, they experience an unforgettable night of disorientation, adventure, and the desire to savor the moment. (tb) “Dazed and Confused is undoubtedly marked by nostalgia for the 70s, but it never overdoes it. Linklater sketches time and place as casually as possible and leaves the rest to all the other great aspects of the film, which is what makes it so timeless. Music, cars, conversations, clothing, and a thousand other little details reveal that the various storylines that make up the film take place in the 1970s. But these things don’t have to be in glaring neon lights for one to perceive them. Linklater trusts his characters, a script that feels so natural that one sometimes has the impression that the excellent cast of the film is inventing everything spontaneously, and individual stories that are magnificent when viewed in their connection.” (Gabriel Ricard, drunkmonkeys.us, Aug 2021) Contributors and additional information:Director: Richard Linklater Screenplay: Richard Linklater Cinematography: Lee Daniel Editing: Sandra Adair Cast: Jason London (Randall “Pink” Floyd), Adam Goldberg (Mike Newhouse), Wiley Wiggins (Mitch Kramer), Ben Affleck (Fred O’Bannion), Matthew McConaughey (David Wooderson), Joey Lauren Adams (Simone Kerr), Milla Jovovich (Michelle Burroughs), Parker Posey (Darla Marks)
