Description
The original production by Sasson/Sautter with Deborah Sasson and Uwe Kröger Music: Deborah Sasson Text: Jochen Sautter Musical Director and Arrangements: Ryan Martin The grand touring production is returning with a top-class star cast and in a completely new musical arrangement. A real musical highlight! After the outstanding success of the 2022/23 tour, world star Deborah Sasson was once again convinced to take on the role of Christine in the season. The interplay between the singer and Germany's number 1 musical star, Uwe Kröger, who continues to play the role of the Phantom, was celebrated by audiences and the press everywhere. Since 2010, "The Phantom of the Opera" by authors Deborah Sasson and Jochen Sautter has captivated audiences on European stages. Now, the forced break due to the Corona pandemic has been creatively used to completely overhaul the production musically. British successful musician Ryan Martin, who has composed and arranged music for Cirque du Soleil, America’s Got Talent, Netflix, BBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox USA, was brought on board for this. The spectacular stage design is brought to life by the effective, three-dimensional video projections of internationally acclaimed multimedia artist Daniel Stryjecki, as well as by the magnificent stage elements built by Michael Scott of the Metropolitan Opera in New York. This new production, which was created for the 100th birthday of the novel "Le Fantôme de l´Opéra" written by Gaston Leroux in 1910, is one of the most successful touring musicals in Europe. The production distinguishes itself from all previous musical interpretations of the literary material by staying closer to the novel and incorporating well-known operatic quotations into parts of Sasson’s composed music. The role of Christine is interpreted by the world-famous Bostonian soprano and Echo Klassik award winner Deborah Sasson. Her versatile and powerful voice is perfect for this blend of opera and musical. The Phantom is played by Uwe Kröger, who, since his breakthrough in the role of Death in the world premiere of Elisabeth, has captured the hearts of audiences. He has played leading roles in the premieres of Rebecca, Mozart, The Visit of the Old Lady, Heidi, and in the German-language premieres of Sunset Boulevard, Miss Saigon, Doctor Dolittle, The Addams Family, and Napoleon at London's West End. Now, he takes on the role of the feared and internally torn Phantom in this production. Additionally, a large ensemble of selected singers, dancers, and actors from the German-speaking region will participate.
