Your story is far less known than that of the White Rose or the resistance around Stauffenberg: Summoning courage - despite everything, a group of young people in Berlin in the 1930s managed to do so and stood against the fascist system. They distributed leaflets, sabotaged arms factories, and provided escape assistance. DAS ICH IM WIR tells the story of the Jewish-Communist resistance group around Marianne and Herbert Baum, who became active out of political conviction; out of solidarity and the decision not to watch passively. In a coming-of-age spoken theater piece, we meet young people who, in a world full of threats, seek ways to act. What gives us stability when circumstances overwhelm us? When does stance turn into resistance? And how do we keep hope alive when our own freedom is at stake? Theater author Carolin Millner, with her collective Elegance aus Reflex, expands the collective memory and Berlin city history with a Jewish resistance narrative. Historical events meet the perspective of a young generation. Acting, choreography, music, stage, costume, and film/video come together in an evening of theater that not only tells the story of the Baum group but makes it physically and immediately experiencable. A piece about resistance and remembrance and the decision not to look away. And about what we ourselves would do when it matters. ELEGANZ AUS REFLEX works on a form of spoken theater closely connected to choreographic art. In her productions, Carolin Millner deals with historical-political complex topics, German-German history, and commemoration culture. In the mode of remembrance, she combines thorough research with linguistically precise fictionalizations as a writing director, opening new perspectives and viewpoints. So far, 18 productions have been created, touring regionally.
