Description

Čapek this year for the second time presented by the theater group B. A. N. D. A. Bystřice. You will see the apocrypha – "On the Decline of the Age, Marta and Mary, On the Five Loaves, and Holy Night." The dictionary of foreign words states: "Apocrypha is a literary form that uses a well-known motif for allegorical or parodic comparison with the author's interpretation." The writer Karel Čapek was inspired by the earliest history of humanity, as well as the Bible, and wrote a whole series of apocrypha. They were gradually published in the 1920s and 1930s in Lidové noviny, and first appeared in book form in 1945 under the title Book of Apocrypha. Because Karel Čapek is an incredibly timeless author, we have attempted to dramatize four of his apocrypha and bring them to the stage. May you enjoy this evening as much as we did in preparing it!
