Description
Following its first successful collaboration with Daniela Brantschen in 2024, the Bündner Singkreis, in collaboration with the Graubünden Chamber Philharmonic, will perform two significant and moving works of Romantic church music this fall under the direction of its conductor: César Franck (1822–1890): The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross (1859) for soprano, tenor, baritone, choir, and orchestra Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809–1847): Psalm 42: “As the Deer Pines,” Op. 42 (1837) for soprano, choir, and orchestra The approximately 90 singers from Northern and Central Grisons will be joined in the solo parts by Aurea Marston from Basel (soprano), the Bernese tenor Remy Burnens, and the internationally renowned baritone Daniel Ochoa. St. Martin’s Church in Chur provides an atmospheric setting and acoustics that meet the highest standards for the two concerts on November 7 and 8.
