DANCE CONCERT (Celtic Festival) - Haltadans In the warmth of a Scottish pub

Description

ADEM invites their audience to experience a true Scottish session at the Pickwick Pub in Geneva, where music and dance are lived in the momentum of the moment.
The evening will take place in two parts: a first part as a concert, to savor the virtuosity and inventiveness of the musicians, then a second part where the audience will be invited to join the dance. No level is required: just let yourself be guided by the experienced people present. For those who wish, an introductory workshop is also offered just before, with the artists, to fully enjoy it!
Haltadans draws from the extraordinary musical vitality of the Shetland Islands, where the violin holds a central place. An ancient Viking land, the archipelago came under Scottish influence over the centuries, while maintaining close cultural ties with the Scandinavian world.
Reels and jigs, inherited both from dance practices and the contexts where this music was shaped – in ports, taverns, and local festivals – are marked by vigorous phrasing and an essential place given to improvisation.
The group has performed in Shetland as well as internationally at prestigious events such as the Orkney Folk Festival and the Scots Fiddle Festival in Edinburgh, following the Celtic revival of the 1960s-1970s. Nominated in 2024 in the "Scottish Folk Band of the Year" category at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, the group confirms its place among the prominent formations of the current Scottish scene with its album Haltadans and the album Light Ida Lum. Maurice Henderson: fiddle
Ewen Thomson: fiddle
Ella Robertson: fiddle
Grant Nicol: guitar
John Clark: bass
