Description
What are the biggest challenges in preserving installation artworks? Unlike other art forms, installations can change from exhibition to exhibition and adapt to the exhibition space, curatorial concept, or the zeitgeist. Variability can be an intentional aspect of a work of art, especially in installations, but it can also result from conservation measures. What influence do artists have on the form their works take during reinstallation in a new environment? How can works be preserved amidst these changes? Which elements of a work remain unchanged and which can be altered? We will explore these questions through two works by Sylvie Fleury from the collection of the Migros Museum. This event is part of the European Day of Restoration. More events can be found here: www. tag-der-restaurierung. ch
