Clowns & Acrobats

Description

The two brothers are passionate circus and black-and-white photographers and have been accompanying circus companies on their travels across the country for several years. Many circus companies continue the art of circus to this day. The history of these circuses is the story of traditional family businesses, most of which continue the tradition of traveling and wandering. As part of a long-term project, Serge and Michel Kliaving accompany these circuses on their journeys across the land. This intensive engagement allows them to build close relationships with the companies and artists they photograph both on stage and during rehearsals and behind the scenes. On stage, during rehearsals, or behind the scenes, their focus is on the artists, their gestures, figures, and the moments that surround the spectacle. Their approach is not only artistic but also aims to help make this world, which they are passionate about, visible and appreciated in their own way. Their photographic work also includes posters that approach street photography – another photographic practice of the brothers. Vernissage: Thursday, October 1st, from 6 pm.
