Description
Elise Frank (F) 19:30
Energy, emotion – and intense goosebumps Elise is an artist who is not easily forgotten once heard, like a shopping list left on the kitchen table. She is a fearless songwriter, captivating performer, and commits herself on stage until the last painful note, where even the amplifiers momentarily hold their breath out of respect. After five years of worldwide touring under the name FRANK, she now opens a new chapter with full force: "I Didn’t Pay For It," her second solo album, was recently released – and received phenomenal reviews. Expect no glossy gloss with ribbons, but raw energy, deep emotion, and beautiful human imperfection, exactly what makes music exciting. Minimalistic, organic, and uncompromising, the power trio delivers their songs with a lot of heart and gut. Élise's music moves between blues, rock, and soul, occasionally seasoned with infectious pop elements. Sensual, rebellious, refreshing, and nostalgic, Élise freely expresses her feelings, plays with words, and tells stories with depth. One can't help but wonder: how can such a young artist play with an intensity that others need three decades, countless broken guitar cases, and at least a hundred shady backstage anecdotes to achieve? Her appreciation for past music also comes through. She takes the old sound by the hand and makes something her own, powerful, and authentic. Her music is clear, punchy, and pure like a diamond – only louder. A promising future awaits Èlise Frank – and this evening is likely a real taste of it.
Èlise Frank (g, voc), Josselin Fleury (bg), Sèbastian Gaschard (dr) Tad Robinson (USA) 21:15
"Exquisitely evocative" (Mojo Magazine) When Tad Robinson steps onto the stage, the room warms up – and that's not just because of the spotlights. The American singer and harmonica player is considered one of the great voices of modern blues: down-to-earth, soulful, elegant, and packed with infectious rhythm. After over 50 years of an impressive career, Tad is at the forefront of white blues and soul. His musical roots extend from New York through Indiana to Chicago – and it sounds just like that: Southern Soul from Memphis meets earthy Chicago blues, complemented by a harmonica that breathes the spirit of Junior Wells, James Cotton, Big Walter Horton, and Sonny Boy Williamson. Tad masters the small instrument with great finesse: sometimes delicate and singing, sometimes gritty, driving, and full of rhythmic attack – as if the harp not only accompanies but also pushes the whole band forward. In short: this is blues with heart, stance, and plenty of power. His voice is compared to legends like Otis Redding or Al Green. The Downbeat Magazine counts him among the best living blues singers. And those who hear him quickly understand why: Robinson doesn't just sing songs, he breathes soul into them – an energy underpinned by incredible musical competence. Ten nominations for the Blues Music Awards, recordings for Delmark and Severn Records, international tours in over twenty countries, and performances at the world's most important blues festivals speak for themselves. Since his collaboration with Dave Specter & The Bluebirds and the album Blueplicity, Tad has been a fixture in the scene. A legendary live recording with German participation: with B. B. & The Blues Shacks at the Lucerne Blues Festival – proof that Tad also feels at home in jump blues. For the Freiburg Blues Festival, Tad will perform with a top-notch nonet including horns. He will be accompanied by The Özdemirs, a family band regularly booked by US blues legends for European tours. Together with the internationally assembled horn section, they create a sound reminiscent of great big bands and Motown albums: swinging, soulful, jazzy, full of positive energy – and groove guaranteed. Those who love rocking blues, warm soul, relaxed swing, and a harmonica that not only plays notes but tells stories should mark this evening in red on their calendar. Or blue. The main thing is blues!
