Description
Born in Rochester, New York, Claire Huangci began playing the piano at an early age and was invited to the White House at the age of nine. She later received numerous international awards, including first prize at the Zurich Géza Anda Competition 2018, and has recorded over a dozen CDs. Open to an unusual repertoire, Claire Huangci impresses with breathtaking virtuosity, masterful interpretations, and technical brilliance. Her current program features the highly demanding, rarely performed together, four Ballades by Frédéric Chopin, which she frames around works by Fanny Hensel and Florence Price, heavily influenced by Chopin. The musical journey from Romanticism to modern American music culminates in Gershwin's jazzy "Rhapsody in Blue," the highlight of the concert – also a reminiscence of this year's 250th anniversary of the United States.
