Making Chüeligurt

Description

The Sennensaddlery is an ancient craft and an important part of the Sennian way of life around the Alpstein. Suspenders, bull halters, and Senn belts are traditionally decorated with intricate leather embroidery and delicate chasing work.

Workshops and artisans who still practice this special art have become rare. The masters of chasing and saddlery, Werner Huser and Fritz Ammann, provide a unique insight into their traditional craft in this course.

On the first day of the course, the group chisels two figurines together with Werner Huser. These are then "nailed" onto the self-prepared belt on the second day of the course – together with other already pre-made figurines – under the guidance of Fritz Ammann.
