Christoph Simon brings together six people for a painting course in the mountains: a retired space planner, a young woman in her gap year traveling with a hammock, an overenthusiastic course instructor, a work-shy hut warden, Regula di Giovanni, who rearranges all the furniture in the hut, and Alma Matter, who surpasses herself. While they paint the Alpine panorama under Sinalco sunshades, they cross mattress boundaries in a mass strike and get closer in various ways, both pleasant and unpleasant. One course, six strangers, lots of trouble.
They come from different directions, collide, and before they go their separate ways again, they cross their fingers behind their backs promising to stay in contact. This is how the hut warden envisions the painting course that will take place in his mountain hut. He energizes the hut, cooks spaghetti for the whole week, and tacks the hut rules to the living room door. But you never know what will happen next. And because you don’t know what will happen next, the hut warden has no expectations about what will happen next. And he is then surprised when what happens next is something he did not expect at all. Awarded the Salzburger Stier, Christoph Simon is among the most cheerful voices below the tree line.
