Description
The reasons for the marginalization of women in design history are well known, with patriarchal structures at the forefront. However, in the young Soviet Union after the revolution, the goal was to implement a consistent gender equality policy, which briefly manifested in art and design. In the West, some female designers also actively worked on a feminist avant-garde. The dialogical tour through the exhibition "Avant-garde – Graphic Design on the Rise" highlights works by well-known and lesser-known pioneers of modernity. With Gerda Breuer, art and design historian, and Bettina Richter, curator of the poster collection and the exhibition, Museum of Design Zurich
