Description
Escamillo, the mayor of St. Gallen, is a passionate amateur bullfighter and gourmet. His dreamy wife Micaëla could use a change of pace. The freshly transferred soldier Don José is supposed to bring the brazen Carmen to prison. A quadrangle story unfolds. Comedy or tragedy? Will there be a happy ending? What does fate decide? Georges Bizet's fiery successful opera Carmen merges musically and scenically with his youthful work, the opera parody Le Docteur Miracle, into a captivating opera evening tailored to the venue. The historic Cantonal Council Hall in St. Gallen becomes an atmospheric stage, embodying a courtroom, private residence, and winding city. The audience is right in the middle of it and can even directly intervene in the action via a voting system.
