A summer on Long Island. A girl and a boy meet and fall in love. There is music and dance and fireworks, swimming and team sports, campfires and midnight walks in the woods. But it is the year 1938, and the summer camp is exclusively attended by young Americans of German descent. Organized and led by the "German American Bund," which spreads the ideology of National Socialism. This summer, much will change, not only the relationship of the two teenagers ... "Camp Siegfried" was actually one of many summer camps established in the second half of the 1930s in the USA to promote a positive image of Nazi Germany. It existed from 1936 to 1941 in Yaphank on Long Island. The already multiple award-winning playwright Bess Wohl came across the story of the camp when she rented a house nearby and became interested in the local history of the place. "Camp Siegfried" had its much-discussed world premiere in 2021 at the Old Vic Theatre in London and will now be seen at the Pforzheim Theatre for the first time in German.
