Description

The concert begins with a hopeful fanfare that dissolves into radiant soundscapes, marking the start of the new subscription season. The program includes Benjamin Britten's 'Young Apollo' for piano, string quartet, and orchestra, inspired by Keats' poem Hyperion, celebrating light, music, and poetry. Felix Mendelssohn's youthful concerto for violin, piano, and orchestra, composed when he was just fourteen, showcases brilliant solo performances by Alexander Melnikov and ensemble member Meesun Hong Coleman. Additionally, Coleman presents the world premiere of 'OTHER,' an autobiographical work exploring cultural roots and identity, in the concert's middle.
