Description

Carmen Maura, former muse of Pedro Almodóvar, stars in the tragicomedy by Moroccan director Maryam Touzani («Le bleu du caftan»), portraying a lively elderly Spaniard who has lived for decades in an apartment in the coastal city of Tangier. María Ángeles is rooted here, everyone knows each other, exchanging smiles at every corner. One day, her daughter Clara visits from Madrid. She has bad news: she is in a severe financial crisis and doesn't know how to support herself and her two children. She sees only one solution: to sell the apartment in Tangier, which her father transferred to her. Her mother should come with her to Madrid or move into a retirement home in Tangier. But María is not considering that. Maryam Touzani's third feature film, born in Tangier, is a love letter to this cosmopolitan city, a crossroads between Atlantic and Mediterranean, Orient and Occident. The feel-good drama features 80-year-old Carmen Maura in top form.
