Brutus

Description

The legendary band Brutus will perform at Melodka in Střelák! The group was formed in 1966 under the name Mandragora in Rakovník. During the normalization period, they were forced to pause their activities several times and always resumed under a new name (1973 – Elektronik, 1980 – Brutus, 1982 – Kyklop). After the Velvet Revolution, they perform under the name Brutus and travel across the Czech Republic with their four-hour, regularly six-hour entertainment concerts in the 1980s, from the halls of large cities to community centers in remote villages. In 1995, the band played in the film Indian Summer by Saša Gedeon, contributed to the sitcom Comeback, where a fragment of the band's song Zdá se mi forms its jingle, and the band members appear in two of its episodes. The song Gorila is also featured in the film by Jan Prušinovský, District Championship. The band appears in the film by Tomáš Svoboda, Two Brides and One Wedding. Brutus has several well-known songs there and is seen for several minutes at a rural dance. The group has collaborated or performed with legendary acts such as UK Subs, TV Smith, Dr. Feelgood, or Slovak bands Zóna A and No Name. They closely collaborate with the British band The Vibrators.
