Brächete - from Flax to Linen

Description

Brächete – From Straw to Gold How linen is made from flax: Insights into traditional processing and the individual steps from straw to finished linen fabric. Under the expert guidance of Katja Frefel, a trained dressmaker as well as a spinner and board member of the «ziehLein» association, there is also the opportunity to get hands-on. After the lectures at 10:30 and 14:00, flax will be broken, heckled, and spun in the orangery. Additionally, Teresa Costa, a hand weaver and textile artist, will complete the event with a small exhibition.

General Information

The event "Brächete - from Flax to Linen" takes place at the Botanical Garden in St. Gallen. Participants learn the traditional steps of flax processing and can actively participate. The event is complemented by an exhibition by hand weaver Teresa Costa.
