Description

The origins of Heiden as a Biedermeier village lie in the village fire of September 7, 1838, during the Biedermeier period (1815-1848). The entire village of Heiden, with the exception of the Harmonie house, was completely burnt down. Only 2 years later, in 1840, 58 houses were already standing again, built in the classicist architecture of the Biedermeier period. The Biedermeier Heiden Association, founded in 1996, aims to make the Biedermeier village of Heiden known far beyond the borders of the country through its activities. In addition to the annual program of Biedermeier activities, a two-day Biedermeier festival of superlatives is held every four years. Around 400 ladies, gentlemen and children dressed in Biedermeier costumes form an impressive backdrop. Other highlights of the festival are the old crafts and market traders in the Biedermeier period as well as the Biedermeier parade on Sunday.
