Berlin makes steam off Lichtenberg - Advent steam through Berlin's east

How about a atmospheric city tour with family, friends, or colleagues? Enjoy a good hour of the special atmosphere of traveling as it was in the old days. In the historic express train from grandfather's times, there are carriages from the 1930s to 1960s of the last century. Depending on age, memories are awakened or the train ride becomes a completely new experience... in the dining car, there are delicious home-cooked meals, mulled wine, and other delicacies. From Lichtenberg, it goes over the outer ring to the northeastern corner of Berlin. At Karower Kreuz, the train turns back towards the city center and reaches the eastern inner ring via Blankenburg and Pankow. Always along the S-Bahn, it goes to Ostkreuz, where the train branches off onto the connection track to the ICE factory Rummelsburg. Again on the outer ring, it heads south through Berlin, passing Adlershof and Schöneweide – past the home of "Berlin macht Dampf," the Schöneweide locomotive depot – back via Ostkreuz to Lichtenberg. While outside the city passes by, inside it is cozy and warm. Our train starts in Berlin-Lichtenberg. Currently, the following schedules are planned (as of August 2026): ROUND 1: Berlin-Lichtenberg departure at 10:00 AM, arrival at 11:30 AM. ROUND 2: Berlin-Lichtenberg departure at 12:00 PM, arrival at 1:30 PM. ROUND 3: Berlin-Lichtenberg departure at 3:00 PM, arrival at 4:30 PM. The final schedules will be available here one week before the trip. Exact times at www.berlin-macht-dampf.com. The locomotive is the steam engine 52 8079 (80 km/h, built in 1944, 1800 HP, weight 140 tons, length 23 meters). It temporarily replaces the identical last operational steam engine of Berlin, 52 8177, which is currently being prepared for its main inspection by the steam locomotive enthusiasts Berlin e.V. For families, there is a discount: traveling with at least 2 adults and several children, there is an additional discount for 2 to 4 children on the children's fare. For children aged 6 to 14, select the price category "Child (6-14) for family ticket".
