Unfortunately, he did not write any other chamber music for this instrument apart from the solo suites for cello. But fortunately, his sonatas for viola da gamba and harpsichord can be perfectly transposed for cello and piano. Benjamin Kruithof, an award-winning young cellist who is honing his skills at the renowned Kronberg Academy, and Robert Neumann, a prize winner of the German Music Competition and previously promoted by SWR as a 'New Talent', combine Bach's wondrous cosmos with Stravinsky's 'Pulcinella' ballet – or more precisely: with the most beautiful themes from it, which Stravinsky refreshingly unconventionally bundled into a 'Suite Italienne'. Additionally, there are three poetic pieces by the American composer Amy Beach – true discoveries in the version for cello. Introduction at 17:30 Concert at 18:00.
