From Terry's point of view, good and evil are clearly divided. But T. C. Boyle also tells the story from the perspective of the bad boys, and in Jesse's eyes, the world looks very different. Ben Becker lends not only his voice but his entire experience to these contrasting characters, revealing depths and questioning moral prejudices. This gives the book a third dimension.
