Béjart Ballet Lausanne

Description

To mark the 40th anniversary and the 100th birthday of Maurice Béjart, they present two captivating works, transporting the audience into a world of dance, passion, and power.

OSKAR In the tension between dynamic movement and profound stillness, an inner odyssey unfolds, full of contrasts—longing and vulnerability, defeat and new beginnings. OSKAR tells the story of the test of courage required to face oneself and transcend one’s own limits.

Choreography: Riva&Repele
Music: Dmitri Shostakovich, Johannes Brahms, Ruggero Leoncavallo
Costumes: Riva&Repele, Leïla Chételat

Mozart Tangos Mozart Tangos emerged from an artful fusion of two choreographic works: M pour B and 7 Tangos from Notre Faust, which were united into a new, shared expression. M pour B was created in Brussels in 1990 to mark King Baudouin’s birthday and is choreographed to selected works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, while 7 Tangos from Notre Faust (1975) is based on Argentine tangos. The simple elegance of Mozart and the dancers’ pointe work merge with the sensual intensity of Argentine tangos, performed by male dancers, to create a poetic interplay of contrasts.

Choreography: Maurice Béjart
Music: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Argentine tango
Costumes: Anna De Giorgi
Premiere: December 12, 1990, Théâtre de Beaulieu
